Library Pony Bead Necklace
Starting May 29th we are handing out necklaces with Summer Reading Program logs for K - 12. After SRP necklaces will be given to any child that receives a library card.
The goal is to make the necklace yours and unlike anyone else’s, each time you come to the library and bring your necklace you will receive a pony bead to add to your necklace. After four beads you can trade them in for special beads (UV, Letters, different designs, charms, etc.) If you attend programs through the summer or visit us at our booth during Pow Wow or the Cottonwood County fair you will receive a special bead that will only be available for a limited time.
Together we can add beads to your necklace and watch your collection grow and become one of a kind.

SHOUT! July 7th, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM:
For ages 4+; and it is not just for kids! It consists of a series of three stations to complete a personalized mixed media art piece. This project will require an 8x10” profile silhouette photograph of the participants, taken and printed before or at the event. The stations will include a location for each step of the project.
One station will include carbon paper for them to trace their photograph, another station will have you cutting out and decorating a 2-D megaphone, and the other will have watercolor paints and markers to represent and express your voice.
Outdoor Art Splash! July 15th, 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
This is a group activity in which participants propel paint onto a large canvas. The unique twist to this playful tradition is the addition of science. Using a hydrophobic medium, the canvas will be prepared to resist paint. The area left without paint, due to the hydrophobic medium, will read “Mountain Lake Public Library.”
July 25th, 2:00 PM
Ralph’s World is the mega-fun musical planet where kids rock rock rock and dance dance dance to their own and their parents’ delight. It’s the creation of Ralph Covert: indie rocker, songwriter, playwright, and children’s book author. He’s taken the same high-energy and super-melodic sense that he developed for his touring pop-rock band to kid’s music- basically only the lyrics are changed for the ears of the innocent. His McCartneyesque style (both musically and his sense of charm) has won him hundreds of thousands of three-feet-and-under fans and their parents.
August 7th, 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
James Wedgwood has performed at countless corporate events, state and county fairs, colleges, libraries, schools and theatres across the country. He’s been seen on “The Statler Brothers Show,” “Crook and Chase,” as well as opening for such national acts as Glen Campbell, Jeannie C. Riley and Janie Fricke. In recent years, he won 1st Place at the Jackpot Junction Casino talent competition.
He continues to hone his craft to this day, workng hard to maintain his reputation as, “The Most Fun You Can have Without Moving Your Lips!”
Join us every other Saturday at 2:00 PM for a Family Movie Night at the library. Popcorn will be available. Watch our webpage and Facebook for updates about what will be playing.
